What is Keto?
Keto is short for Ketosis - the state of making ketones from fat in the body which you burn for energy. Instead of using mostly glucose (from carbohydrates), this simple change unlocks the stores of fat in your body, allowing you to shed unwanted pounds. It also reduces the inflammation which is at the root of most modern diseases like obesity, Type 2 Diabetes, Heart Disease, Cancer etc.
Join us!The three food categories in Keto
In Keto, we are upending the traditional food pyramid. Instead of basing your diet mostly on carbohydrates, your food will be mostly fat and protein. This is the way our ancestors ate - and how they stayed lean and free from the diseases we see everywhere today.
Type 1 - Healthy Fats
Let us show you how mistaken the 'eat low fat' message has been. It was based on a hypothesis - a theory - which has been shown to be untrue. Eating less fat doesn't prevent heart disease, or keep you skinny. In fact, it's been terrible for our health and has a lot to answer for! Healthy fats are essential for the body and a more efficient fuel than glucose - we'll show you which are healthy and which to avoid, and why.
Type 2 - Healthy Proteins
These are the building blocks of life itself. Proteins prevent osteoporosis and physical degeneration in later life. We can't build or maintain healthy bones or muscles without it - and it doesn't cause kidney disease either. We'll show you the best sources of life-building protein.
Type 3 - Low GI carbohydrates
Low GI means low Glycaemic Index. That means it doesn't spike your blood sugars - or your insulin. Eating only Low GI carbs is the best and quickest way to prevent or reverse so many of our modern diseases. Like so many others, even Cancer is now known to be an inflammatory, metabolic response involving excessive insulin and glucose in the blood. Find out which Carbs are great for your body - and which you need to avoid.
