Our Story

We are a couple living in the UK and running a small business in Lancashire.  We had an average lifestyle and average health – we’d been putting on a little weight around the middle during the last 10 years, but we felt we were on the right side of healthy.  We ate a ‘normal’ diet:  toast and marmalade, porridge or cereal for breakfast, sandwiches, soup with bread, cheese on toast for lunch, and often a processed meal (lasagne, cottage pie, box curry) plus vegetables and potatoes (often fries) for tea.  We were never heavy drinkers, but wine and beer were our choices when we did.  We sometimes liked a few biscuits, crisps or chocolates in between meals – well, who doesn’t?  That was normal for us.

What we didn’t realise was that the middle-age spread was a sign of metabolic syndrome.  I had also developed COPD/Asthma (years of smoking led to that!) but we’d given up smoking and started vaping instead.  My husband had vascular problems – poor blood flow and weakened valves in his legs and feet leading to itchy, inflamed patches around his ankles and varicose veins in his legs – not great when you spend long hours on your feet.  I took three exercise classes a week in the belief it would help my weight.  I had about 3 stone to lose, my husband less than that.

Approaching our late 50’s, we were really worried about the pandemic and the effect of an infection particularly with asthma/COPD.   We took all the precautions we could and hoped for the best.  But that wasn’t our biggest problem.

During that time, working from home because I felt vulnerable, my hands started to seize up and hurt badly.  Then the joints, particularly in my hands and ankles swelled.  It spread to my neck, shoulders, hips knees and became crippling.  I couldn’t switch the kettle on in the morning, or get a painkiller out of the blister pack.  I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis - and absolutely devastated.

At the same time, my husband’s skin had started to deteriorate.  He developed seborrheic dermatitis on his scalp.  It looked like bad dandruff but was itchy and made his scalp bleed, even without scratching.  It spread to his eyebrows and forehead and was miserable for him.  His ankles were no better and he would scratch them every evening, making them extra red.

My diagnosis set me off on a path of investigation to find out why I had rheumatism and what could I do about it?  I must have researched more than a thousand hours – studies, presentations by Doctors and Professors, all about autoimmune diseases and what has gone wrong in the body to allow it to appear.  What was the ‘old’ science and what was the newer, more up-to-date understanding?  What was due to my genes and what could I change by my lifestyle?  What a journey it was!  I’m still learning every day and adding to my knowledge bit by bit.

The result – the changes we made to our diet and our way of eating and living – has led to us no longer suffering with any of the problems which were making our lives so difficult.  And to other benefits which we never anticipated along the way:  better sleep, no snoring, stronger hair, no gum disease or cavities, clearer skin needing less moisturiser, consistent energy levels through the day with no slumps.

I had to stop exercising because of my joints (and he was never a fan!) but we both lost the excess weight too – without calorie restriction or any exercise.  The weight melted away until we were the same size and shape we had been in our twenties, even though we were eating till we were full at every meal.  I wear a UK size 10 or 12 now (I’ve lost 3 ½ stone, his dad-bod has gone and he’s lean and toned).  Steady!

This sounds unbelievable and if anyone had told me this was possible, I would have highly doubted it.  But we are living proof and I believe so strongly in the principles we applied, I challenge anyone to simply try it for themselves.  Even if you do it for 60 or 90 days – that’s not too much, is it?  Even a month.  Everyone can see some results in that time.

If we went back to our ‘normal’ life with the same ways of eating and drinking we had before, it wouldn’t be long before all the old problems came back.  And we know, because we’ve experimented with ‘cheating’ – a weekend off, a feast on holiday – all the usual traps.  And we’ve felt the effects of that - none of them were good.

Trust me when I tell you that no food tastes as good as being symptom-free feels.   And it’s true – all the exercise in the world won’t fix a broken metabolism – you can’t run away from a bad diet.

Change in the world of medicine and processed food won’t come from the top.  It won’t come from the governments or the producers, the doctors or the nutritionists – there are incentives built into every part of the modern food and health environment which keep the status quo.  It will only come from people like us, people who have learned to throw out the bad advice and take a different path, understanding the roots of metabolic ill-health and all the diseases which spring from a poor and nutrient-deficient diet.

This is what has led us to produce this programme.  In an ideal world, I’d share everything we’ve learned as far and wide as I could.  In the best of worlds, it would be free.  But that isn’t the world we live in and we need to get by, so we’ve promised to set our prices as low as we reasonably can, given all the time and effort we’re putting into producing the information and spreading it as far as we can.

We hope that this programme gives you everything you’re hoping for.  We truly believe it can transform anyone.

Wishing you all the very best xx
